I wished I could have summed up my previous post as well as Master Eric. But then again, maybe it comes with the territory of being a master at martial arts. He captured the essence of my post nicely and added his own questions at the end:
“I am a 5th dan in Ryu Kyu Kempo. A form of Martial Arts. In it we have, like all modern martial arts a belt system. White belt and all the way up to Black belt and beyond to the so called secret moves of the upper levels 🙂
Yes, the upper black belt classes were not viewable by anyone under the black belt level. Considered too dangerous for the students who were not ready. Sounds familiar 🙂
Now, in the past, before the 19th century. There were no belt systems in martial arts. You only had a belt to hold your pants up 🙂
The only rule you had was that when you started you were given a very thick and strong white cotton belt that you did not ever wash. The reason for this was so that others knew how long you have been training and so they were careful not to hurt the lower level or inexperience students. The more and longer you trained, the belt will change colour from the sweat and so others will see the time of training you have had and know how skilled you would or should be.
So there were no Levels or grades in the old days. You progressed slowly by learning more and more and being more CLEAR about how to BE a MASTER of the ART.
Now the above is my way of trying to explain the concept of CLEAR. You never become CLEAR. You become CLEARER and CLEARER and CLEARER. Along the way you have AHA moments that help you move a big step forward but you are not CLEAR just CLEARER than before…..There are no states that are the same for everyone. Each will progress and get CLEARER as they work on themselves. There are NO ABSOLUTES…
To me I find the more I work on myself, the LESS MIND I have and more of ME expanded. Difficult to put in to words. I find that this thing called MIND is less and MORE of ME is HERE. But if I let go of my self work and focus on life only, then, I feel this thing called MIND more and more and I feel Less and Less expanded.
So what this thing called is or if it actually IS anything is an interesting subject. Maybe the MIND is the GLUE that holds our attention to this Creation that we apparently agree on altogether. Maybe, no MIND means total freedom… Just sayin 🙂”

LRH said the same about there being NO ABSOLUTES – specifically including in that, the state of Clear. And LRH’s words for talking about becoming “CLEARER and CLEARER” were to have “negative gain” – that term being even more similar to what Eric describes as “less mind”.
Eric also wrote about “AHA moments that help you move a big step forward” – in Scientology those would be cognitions, the biggest ones being the various levels of the Bridge.
The above blog post quote is just part of Eric’s original post, which included a description of the particular martial arts form he practices which has different colored belts. That too sounds a system with levels – similar to the various levels of the Bridge.
I just looked on Wikipedia and I see that the different colored belts indicate different levels of “proficiency” or “skill” that are tested for before being awarded. This too corresponds to Scientology in that different levels of “ability” are achieved at the different levels on the Bridge, as indicated in the “Ability Gained” column. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karate_belts
I’m happy to know that martial arts is also a very systematic and “taped” path to spiritual awareness, and it may appeal to some people more than the Scientology Bridge even when delivered outside the CoS in the Independent field and in its original, successful form.

Chrsi: Me too. LRH is finally being recognized for his invention of martial arts!
Is it so hard to resist saying something snide in reply to almost every comment I post? Even one like this, where I’m saying something positive about another path besides Scientology?
This is why I try to avoid exchanges with you – I don’t see an attempt to communicate, only to invalidate and make nothing of whatever I say, no matter what it is. It shows how obsessed you are with belittling both Scientology and me just because I see the tremendous potential in it.
You are right. I shouldn’t belittle LRH seeing as how he invented the internet that we are communicating with. Snide? Not at all. Around 1980, while doing a computer project for the GO, I mean OSA, I mean INCOMM, I mean, oh hell, I was just working for free for the high priced lawyers inputting keywords and quotes of entheta newsprint and other correspondence into INCOMM’s data base. I learned that “The World Has Gone Computer” and that L. Ron Hubbard had invented a search engine for S.I.R. (Source Information Retrieval) that was unlike and better than anything the world had known. He was able to invent this search engine and set up INCOMM in between composing tone scale space opera music for Div 6 movies that had been piloted and were set to drive in people internationally whether they knew why they were coming in or not. Report Back!
No, the real reason that I wrote what I did was because when I read your comment, I didn’t read read praise for Eric’s hard won accomplishments but rather another plug and praise for Scientology and how martial arts levels are just like the Scientology Bridge. Having studied Taekwondo and boxing, I don’t really agree with the comparison except in a contrived way. I thought that Eric’s clear headed OP deserved better. I’ve found that when you collect your own thoughts on a subject and write, I find it very enjoyable to read. You are a good writer.
Chris: “I didn’t read praise for Eric’s hard won accomplishments but rather another plug and praise for Scientology and how martial arts levels are just like the Scientology Bridge.”
The blog post above wasn’t specifically about Eric’s accomplishments (which, btw, I already acknowledged on the thread where his comment was originally posted). He himself wrote on that previous thread a comparison quite similar to my post above:
“Scientology, Psychology, Philosophy, religions of all sorts and any mental and spiritual works try to have you increase your knowing of YOU, when practiced with care and love.”
Well said.
Chrsi: Me too. LRH is finally being recognized for his invention of martial arts!
Of course you jest! It is a shame that another workable art form has to be compared to scientology. We know that LRon took something from every other old art form, except for the sci Fi portion, so fine. What a small prison some must be in not to recognize another art form by itself.
Ah! Duplication is so pleasant.
‘ I wished I could have summed up my previous post as Master Eric”. HaHa…do you think
you have a chance against a 5th dan? (joking). Also, it is a backflow….the flow is turning back….are you in a receptive mood? (not joking).
Eric
Awesome!
From what I’ve seen, Martial Arts in various form gives one tools to work with in life and no comparison to Scientology. Self-confidence with a spiritual approach is excellent and anyone can benefit from it’s teaching and training. My OT mate was a brown belt and he incorporated it into his life more than anything else and it couldn’t be invalidated.
Oh, reminds me, should practice some since it’s also good for the body.
Thanks Master Eric 🙂
A permanent fixed state of Clear is truly a Miracle:
Outstanding video Anette 🙂 shows priorities and what can be confronted by many, huh?
Fantastic, It made my day. Thank You Anette 🙂
Sorry for this off-topic, but I’m clueless now. I’ve read on discussions like this a principle on the order that “observation takes distance”. If you’re stuck in something, you cannot see it good enough until you get exterior to that and then you’ve got the chance to see and as-is it. Do you know where this comes from? Anyone?
If it’s what I’m thinking about, It’s in the axioms Vitek. To be ‘exterior’ would mean to realise you’re not a body or other things. This way you would stop putting that lie there, and thus as-is more easily.
Right, but I didn’t mean strictly exterior to the body. You can be inside something or exterior to it.
But yeah, I get what you mean, it makes sense.
Vitek
if you are ‘stuck’ , you ‘canNOT’ – it is resistance. There is something you resist. STOP, do not do anything, allow it to BE.
Seems to be related to agreement, if you agree too much with something you apparently can become it. Maybe when your attention becomes stuck in it, is as if you “became” it.
If we see agreement as matching wave lengths, then your agreement will persist as long as your attention remains fixed in that wave length, if you don´t change it, your whole world, your whole reality would become trapped in that particular wave length, or maybe we could call it instead a particular dimension or a particular reality. If you are able to disagree with it, means you could get in tune with different wave lengths, dimensions or realities, or maybe even create them all by yourself, stop creating the other one and let it vanish.
How much or our own reality are we consciously creating and how much of it are we unconsciously creating?
How much of the outside world reality is being created by us consciously or unconsciously?
Is it even true that at least part of that reality is or was created by us?
Is it a group creation which now can´t be stopped individually?
Where is the division between our own universes and the material universe? What is it made of?
That makes a good goal in meditation to stop compulsive creating, and create-uncreate consciously that would allow us to “reset” our computers to zero, get in control of our creations, (if any), and maybe gain some clarity as to how this whole system is being created.
Vitek, my idea is that observation is another word for perception. Perception in essence is communication per this Tech Dictionary definition: “in Homo Sapiens, communication is known as perception”. And we know that communication consists of cause-DISTANCE-effect. In auditing there is the auditing comm cycle where the pc “LOOKS” – which is to say, he perceives/communicates with something in the bank – and when his looking consists of cause-distance-effect with DUPLICATION – as-isness occurs.
To me it means balance. The middle way.
If you are too far in something you cannot see the whole.
If you are too far distanced from something you will can the whole but have
no connection to it.
It is about finding a balance. You need be in a position where you can see the whole of what you are in. The only way to do this is be free to move in and out. To look deep into it and then to be free to remove yourself from it. The ability to look at the whole is to be free.
To be in the center yet free to BE in all directions.
– An old Persian Story about a Bug in a Rug
All the bug ever saw in his lifetime was his problems. They stood up all around him, he couldn’t see over the top of them, and he had to fight his way through these tufts of wool, in the rug, to find some crumbs someone had spilled in the rug. And the tragedy of the story of the bug in the rug was this; that he never knew that he lived and died in the world’s most beautifully designed rug, if only he could see that the whole rug had a pattern.
🙂
Mastereric111:…………….. if only he could see that the whole rug had a pattern.
Like! 🙂
One of the best articles I’ve read in the last months. Who want to learn something can easily do it…and it’s not about martial arts. Very good idea to write this, Geir.
dragos72 – and it’s not about martial arts
That is correct
🙂
I think this is beautiful…..
No mind, no form, I only exist;
Now ceased all will and thought,
The final end of Nature’s dance
I am it whom I have sought.
Rumi
Beautiful. Surrender, compassion – that’s the name of the game.
