Held a Talk. Found an App.

Two weeks ago I held a talk on Scientology in the southernmost city in Norway, Kristiansand. JessicaX, an original Anonymous Norway, took pictures and videos. Then I was told about Magisto – a creative video app. Downloaded… and a few days later… voilá:

The talk was in Norwegian, so I’ll leave you with this fancy trailer.

  1. (The Singing starts at about 45 seconds.)

    “YOU OUGHTA BE IN PICTURES”

    As I look at you
A thought goes through my mind
    What a marvellous time
    You’d make upon the screen
I’m proud that I have you
    Right by my side
But I’d be satisfied to lend you
To the public to be seen

    You oughta be in pictures
    You’re wonderful to see
    You oughta be in pictures
Oh, what a hit you would be
Your voice would thrill a nation
    Your face would be adored
    You’d make a great sensation
With wealth and fame your reward
And if you should kiss the way you kiss
    When we are all alone
You’d make every girl and man
A fan worshiping at your throne
    You oughta shine as brightly
    As Jupiter and Mars
    You oughta be in pictures
    My star of stars

    You oughta be in pictures
    You’re wonderful to see
    You oughta be in pictures
Oh, what a hit you would be
    You’re lovely as a Crawford
    Like Davis you are gay
    You surely should be offered
A starring part – right away
    You’re sweet as a Gaynor
And you’re hot as a gal named West
    You’d even make Garbo jealous
If you took a movie test
    You oughta dress like Tashman
    And ride in motor cars
    You oughta be in pictures
    My star of stars!

      1. Nice one, Marianne!

That old song I posted – “You oughta be in pictures” – came to mind when I saw Geir’s “picture movie.” Probably no one here but the Americans know that song from the old movies they used to play on TV when we were kids. Well, except for maybe Dragos – he does know the old music.

  2. Is it too much if I ask for the clip in Norwegian too, not only the trailer? Or at least a link… I like to hear you speaking, you have a good oratory skill. Something between a lawyer and a tv host.

    1. I second the request, even if it’s in Norwegian – Geir in animation is fun to watch. He makes some great facial expressions!

Hey Dragos, do you know that old song I posted – “You oughta be in pictures”? I bet you do. 😉

Btw, I hope you got that I was kidding about your “black” shirt and white tie being “gangster-like.” It looks good. 🙂

  3. Sure would be interested in hearing or reading what you say. Love the pictures tho!

    1. Me too, Dee. It would be interesting.

Hey, I like how you are taking no nonsense from The Vin these days. 😉

      1. Huh Marildi? It sounds like you are comparing him to “The Don!” 🙂

          1. Geir, don’t you know that Vinnie has two sets of rules – one for him and one for everybody else? 🙂

Btw, it just hit me – was the music in the movie composed by you? My guess is it was!

            1. It wasn’t.. Neither was the composition of the video. Everything was a surprise to me – the app had just made the video out of the pictures and videos that day ☺

      2. Marildi, I got a real kick out of hearing that old pictures song and it was so appropriate and funny.

I have recently been relieved of a major onion peel and lost some fear of speaking, what I thought. Thanks for noticing.

        1. That old song immediately popped in my mind when I saw Geir’s “movie.” I felt the same way as you – got a kick out of hearing it again. Glad someone else liked it!:

And yes,I sure did notice you speaking out lately. You do it very well – I’m taking notes. 🙂

            1. Okay, let’s do. (Vinnie will have to run for the hills! 😀 )

            2. Marildi: “Okay, let’s do. (Vinnie will have to run for the hills!)”

Yes, and we would surely have some fun, even with any differences we may have. I do respect people with education and common sense.

I think he could be by our side and not know what we were talking about. Maybe in person he’d be different, but on blogging, frequently acts like an ass. (there I said it!) 🙂

        2. DeE:”I have recently been relieved of a major onion peel and lost some fear of speaking, what I thought. ”

Well done, DeE. I like your self-assurance, direct communication and ability to make your own assessments of data.

          1. Well, thank you 2ndx. I think you see the better in me than I do. I’m also a little strange because i have so many things I draw from while trying to center.

As Geir says ‘a work in progress’. I feel like I could now stand up and talk about my past. And you know what? It doesn’t even matter much or is important to me anymore. Moving on and communicating to others is where I’m at right now and enjoying it.

I’ve always liked and gained from what others have to say more than myself. I’ll keep at it and will answer any logical or simple questions or give my opinion. I don’t have enough background, memory or interest for tech of any sort to speak, but like to feel part of the group.

I wish I could talk in person like I write – time to edit and go over what I type – but I’m working on it. Just need more people to practice with. 😀

            1. DeE:” Moving on and communicating to others is where I’m at right now and enjoying it.”

Moving on and moving on Up. The ability to stand your ground is an upward motion on an ability scale. We’ve been pretty nearly flattened on the ability scale in the past and now we are ascending again. Funny how our communication level was flattened: we became all good roads and good weather and unable to speak our feelings or desires while church members and now we are regaining our ability to communicate true feelings and thoughts. Sometimes we’re a bit brutal, sometimes restrained. Maybe we still monitor our thoughts a bit lest we explode the receiving end. Sometimes it is better to count to 10 or even 11 before speaking and even better to edit out the exclams and @#$%%! that otherwise come rolling off our tongues, but in the presence of fellow travelers, and maybe a pint of laughter juice, we’ll recover even the ability to snarl, snarl back and laugh.

Here’s to good times ahead. Cheers!

            2. Cheers! 😀

Yes the counting to 10 is important when talking and not be reactionary or quick with the fingers on blogs.
I can get very stimulated and interested in live conversation with the right people, that I have a time controlling pace, but as I say, with practice I’ll improve. I’m one of those who talk fast and was married to a thinker / listener which made it great. Sure miss that.

I’ve done my share of it and who knows when i may feel like just blasting off, haha. It’s like ‘so what’!, but giving it some thought is first, best of course! Then again, it feels so good to blast off at times, heh!

              Good times ahead for sure!

  4. Hey Geir, you have been too quiet lately!

I thought of you recently when I came across some data about the “admiration particle,” because we had a discussion about it one time. Here’s what I found:

“The particle or flow of ADMIRATION should be slightly of the frequencies of WONDERMENT and ACCLAIM.
    […]

“An enormous number of particles or flows were tested to isolate ADMIRATION as the most effective frequency or wavelength of thought.”

(from *The Journal of Scientology* Issue 13-G [1952 ca. early April])

Interesting, huh? It seems this is what Ron meant by the “admiration particle” – it’s a particular frequency.

    1. Instead of “a” frequency, I guess I should have said it’s a particular set of frequencies.

    2. Hey, I was wondering the same, thanks Marildi for offering Geir a nudge.

“An enormous number of particles or flows were tested to isolate ADMIRATION as the most effective frequency or wavelength of thought.”

I know in the metaphysical world they use energy or love and pass it on to others to heal or feel better. My questions about this quote are…
What kind of tests and how did they test the isolation of this wavelength, and the results thereof? Were they scientific, subjective or a belief?
I don’t have that info to read. Thanks 🙂

      1. Hi Dee,

I got the idea from that article that Ron and other auditors tested out admiration as an energy flow by having pcs mock it up as part of mock-up processing, and then the auditors observed what occurred. Here’s part of what follows the above quote:

“An enormous number of particles or flows were tested to isolate ADMIRATION as the most effective frequency or wavelength of thought…A mock-up will alter when its imperfections are ADMIRED. Imperfections of the pc, mocked up in front of him, will alter and succumb to ADMIRATION.”
        .

If you’re familiar with Eckhart Tolle, author of *The Power of Now*, you probably know that the main thing he speaks about is PRESENCE (being in the here and now), which he says will automatically bring about love, trust and all other positive attitudes. In the reverse, he also talks about something he calls “the pain body.” Here’s a quote from his website:

“The pain-body is my term for the accumulation of old emotional pain that almost all people carry in their energy field. I see it as a semi-autonomous psychic entity.” http://www.eckharttolle.com/article/Awakening-Your-Spiritual-Lifes-Purpose

To me it’s clear that what Tolle is describing as the “pain body” is the reactive mind, just using a different term. And I’m sure he has no scientific evidence for it, but many people have claimed success in handling the pain-body simply by remaining in the present and not resisting it.

Scientologists would similarly word that kind of success as basically “being there and looking at it” – as in auditing. Not to say that everybody has always had success with Tolle’s methods, and the same goes for auditing.

Here’s a short vid that I found for you about pain-bodies:

  5. Marildi, I can see that imperfections of a person will alter and succumb to admiration if and when one looks at the positive aspects enough, should they care too.
However, when you hit someone’s pain-body or stuck-ness (my word) there’s not much one can do, but understand, and use Tolle’s suggestions, which seem to work.

Enjoyed hearing his wisdom and humor again, thanks.

    1. Glad you like him too! Yes, he does have tremendous wisdom – and a cute sense of humor. I’ve watched several of his vids now. If I come across another one I think you and others here might like, I’ll share it. (Since Geir is sleeping on the job. 😉 )

  6. ((WARNING: INTERNET SHOUTING AHEAD …))

    GEIR! GEIR!

YOUR LIFE IS TOO HAPPY! IT SEEMS LIKE YOU DON’T NEED TO POST HERE ANYMORE!

    AND YOU AREN’T!

WHAT ARE WE TO DO? GO OUTSIDE? LIVE? LOVE? LAUGH? GOOD GOD MAN!

    KEEP IT UP!

    1. Zarathustra left his cave too when he realized his last sin.

FELLOW SUFFERING WITH THE HIGHER MEN!

He realized that he chewed their cabbage ENOUGH and was done. Life was to be LIVED IN THE SUN!

“Thou great star, what would be thy happiness if thug hadst not those for whom thou shiniest!”

It’s been a good cave of Zarathustra Geir, You have welcomed all and turned none away who had good manners.

    2. Hehe 🙂

Reason for my absence is threefold; Busy life, a fatal pc hardware crash and lacking urgent inspiration to must-write-this-blog-post.

      I’ll be back. As usual.

      1. geir

you may find the ‘inspiration’ in the middle of the ‘fatal’ crash…

‘spirit’ is there, isn’t it? haha, YOU…and you ‘know’ is very well,

don’t you? glad that YOU are back! you may also leave out the

        ‘must’ from writing…just write….

        1. correction: you ‘know’ it very well

i may have written though, as it is closer to truth, that you are

‘family’ar with it (playing a bit with the word family)

  7. Geir, I watched an Eckhart Tolle video tonight and thought of you. He talks about giving speeches that aren’t scripted – which you wrote about one time too. I think you will like this vid. It has to do with writing as well. And creativity. Right up your alley(s). 🙂

    1. I liked that talk by Tolle. He is very eloquent. This is what I see as mindfulness.

  8. Geir, I watched an Eckhart Tolle video tonight and thought of you. He talks about speeches (or talks) that aren’t scripted, which you wrote about one time yourself. I think you will like this vid. It describes the anatomy of presence in a way I’ve not come across. He also talks about writing. Right up your alley(s). 🙂

    1. Well, that was strange. The first time I tried posting my comment it didn’t show up. Now both of them do!

  9. This post may not belong here, but it was modertaed out by Marty just now on his blog. I wonder what Marty’s reasoning would be for not allowing this post.

My post was in resonse to the following.

Cat Daddy, the above video led me to the following video of Gerry Armstrong (Dublin 2012), which I had not seen before. Gerry and I were on the ship and FLB during the same period. We actually joined Scientology and left the Sea Org about the same time too.

It is interesting what Gerry says about Marty near the end of this video. He makes a great point about the SP Doctrine. He claims that the independent Scientology groups still adhere to the SP doctrine, which puts them in the same league as Corporate Scientology.

As I have watched the evolution of Marty over the years, I hope that Marty no longer believes in the SP Doctrine. I do agree with Gerry that SP Doctrine defines the core characteristics of Scientology, regardless of where and how it is practiced. Here is the video.

    .

      1. It may just be that he has an emotional hang-up on Gerry in particular. It may be a stretch to conclude anything based on one moderated post, though.

        1. I hope so. I hope that Marty and Gerry will reach a better understanding with each other.

In that video, I found Gerry to be very articulate and clear. I was impressed.

            1. It seems that Marty has evolved much since then. Hope he is able to handle the differences here.

            2. I wouldn’t go by anything he said in 2009 – he’s changed his views about 180 degrees from what they were then. I’m surprised you don’t know that, Geir.

I haven’t seen any specifics about Gerry Armstrong, but Marty publicly apologized to Russell Miller on one of his blog posts. And anons post on his blog with no apparent problem.

            3. I am not sure his emotional hick-ups on Gerry or Anonymous has so much to do with his evolving regarding Scientology or life in general.

            4. That’s a good point. There probably isn’t a one-to-one connection. However, I still wouldn’t go by anything he said in 2009! 😉

            5. I think that is not such a good criterion. A better criterion would be to measure him by his consistency on different topics. There must be some basis for Marty’s evolution.

            6. All I said was that you can’t go by what he said in 2009 – meaning you can’t necessarily depend on anything he said back then regarding scientology or scientologists (current or former), because his views have changed radically since then.

            7. Marildi. “However, I still wouldn’t go by anything he said in 2009!”

So absolutely spot on in my book, thank you.

Gosh I had my opinions for years which kept me away for many years and without the internet and then without my hubby. When they contacted me and convinced me all had changed, so went back for a year.
I experienced all the smoke and mirrors, (which I saw) and believed them till I knew things were not right nor correct before Debbbie. When I left I opened my mind and changed it many times, like growing up and really being educated, seeing some truths. The time away from them, in between helped a lot also since I did learn other ways of living spirituality and thinking.
I certainly realize my changes, and know others will change also with time. Look how Geir has changed. I’ve watched Marty over a couple years and have seen the changes, along with others who have really watched.

I don’t see why the person who wants to know his personal feelings or reasons about someone, doesn’t just ask him personally, in present time instead of questioning, figuring, or just allow him some space.
To make a big deal over maybe .01% of comments not being printed is over the top I believe and not even nice.
              End of rant! 🙂

Glad your back at the key board Geir. Nice to read you again. 🙂

            8. Nice rant, Dee. 🙂

I wanted to get back to you and Vinnie as regards his post being moderated out. I watched the last few minutes of the video, where Gerry Armstrong states that the CoS doesn’t have to fair game him and others anymore because “That’s been taken over by Marty and his gang.”

I think that statement alone would have been enough for Marty not to want the video posted on his blog! And then Vinnie probably made matters worse by writing the following in his comment:

“It is interesting what Gerry says about Marty near the end of this video. He makes a great point about the SP Doctrine. He claims that the independent Scientology groups still adhere to the SP doctrine, which puts them in the same league as Corporate Scientology.”

To Vinnie, it was “interesting,” but he apparently didn’t give much thought to how it might have affected Marty. Then, to make matters worse, he added the following.

“As I have watched the evolution of Marty over the years, I hope that Marty no longer believes in the SP Doctrine.”

As if there should have been any doubt about that!

Come on, Vin ol’ boy, you gotta put yourself in the other person’s shoes a little better than that! I’ve had comments moderated out too – and most of the time I could understand why. But I pretty much knew beforehand that they would be and only intended for Marty to read them anyway. There have been a couple that he surprised me by moderating them out. But then again, he has his views and doesn’t want them discredited, even though that makes for an unlevel playing field. He still hasn’t banned me, though, so I give him that much credit.

Geir gets a lot more credit, though, in that his playing field is far more level. The comm is freer. Thanks, Geir. That has been duly noted and appreciated. 😉
