The tree is all set up so it will be fun for the kids. My oldest son came home a few hours ago so he can wake up with his younger siblings on Christmas morn. Yesterday morning, I took off a couple hours from working on the house to go out with Graham and Nolan, my two youngest boys, to get “Christmas haircuts.” Then we got breakfast. My youngest son asked “Is this Christmas eve?. . . It is? . . . Great!” Graham and I laughed with and at him and I was happy that we try to make every day important so that Christmas is fun but not a stomach-churning pinnacle of the year.
I watched two movies this week, both the 1951 original and the new version of “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” I was taken with Klaatu’s accusation to humans that, “You treat the Earth like you treat each other.” I felt shamed by that comment and could see that he is right. I am determined to try to do better this new year. Peace!

Its strange to have friends that you have never met,
